President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit on Friday against Wall Street Journal and Mogul Media Rupert Murdoch, the day after the newspaper published a story that reported a relationship with the financier rich Jeffrey Epstein.
The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Miami. This is looking for at least $ 10 billion (£ 7.4 billion) in damage.
Trump promised a lawsuit after the newspaper described a sexual suggestive letter that the newspaper said he had the name Trump and was included in the 2003 album for Epstein’s 50th birthday.
The President denied writing the letter, calling the story “False, evil, and slandering”.
The letter was reportedly gathered by British socialite that was humiliated by Ghislaine Maxwell as part of the birthday album for Epstein for years before he was first arrested in 2006 and then disagreed with Trump.
The letter that reads the name Trump is a text framed by an outline of what seems to be a naked woman who is drawn and ends with, “Happy birthdays-and maybe every day becomes another beautiful secret,” according to Koran.
The outlet describes the contents of the letter but does not publish a photo that shows completely or gives details about how it can learn it.
It happened after the US Department of Justice asked the Federal Court to open the jury transcript seal in the Epstein case on Trump’s direction in the middle of the storm for handling administrative records related to the case.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche submitted a motion that urged the court to open the Epstein transcript seal and in the case of Maxwell, who was punished for capturing teenage girls to be sexually harassed by Epstein.
Epstein committed suicide in 2019 shortly after his arrest while waiting for the trial.
Announcement of the Department of Justice that they will not make the public more Epstein files angry the parts of the Trump base, in part because members of their own government have been adorable for the expected release and triggers conspiracy around well-connected investors.
The Department of Justice said in the submission of a court that they would work with prosecutors in New York to conduct an appropriate editor from information related to victims and other personal identification information before the transcript was released.
“Transparency in this process will not sacrifice our obligations based on the law to protect the victims,” Blanche wrote.
But apart from the new encouragement to release the Grand Jury transcript, administration has not announced plans to reverse direction and release other evidence.
Attorney General Pam Bondi has exhaled the release of additional material after the disclosure of the Epstein file early in February triggered anger because it did not contain new revelations.
A judge must approve the release of the grand jury transcript, and is likely to be a long process to decide what can be public and make the editor to protect sensitive witnesses and victim information.
Note will show the testimony of witnesses and other evidence presented by the prosecution during the secret jury process, when the panel decides whether there is enough evidence to bring the charges, or formal crimes.
