If the BBC Battle Change, is it time to eliminate the sports crown jewelry?

With the changes needed to ensure lower exercise is followed to get their time in the spotlight, is it time to abolish the crown jewelry and throw the BBC for some coverage?

What I know about aquatic can be written with waterproof Sharpie on a pair of minimal speedos. I know, however, that swimming is one of the Olympic foundations, trusted by IOC to replace athletics as an anchor in the last week of the match in the match in LA28. I also know that if you put a big champion on the terrestrial tele, I will definitely listen and watch.

The 2025 Aquatic Championship ended last weekend in Singapore. If you are a British who relies on the mainstream media – and especially BBC – for your sports news, this world will likely pass you unconsciously. There is no TV coverage on the national broadcasting platform and several valuable items on the BBC Sport website and application. When I listened to radio coverage in one night session in the Beeb application, it only had 108 listeners.

For the record, the United Kingdom sent 67 athletes to Singapore’s troops, finishing 15th on the overall table with five medals in all artistic swimming, diving and racing in the pool. Although down in the ten GB medals secured at the Paris 2024 Olympics, there was a strong enough performance in Singapore to give a heart for three years that this team walked to LA.

Taking a less parochial perspective, China occupies the top of the medal table, as in Paris. Australia pushed the United States to third place. In the swimming pool, such as opposite the Olympics and Paralympic Sports, the pressure has built in the USA team to give in front of the host crowd who is ready to celebrate the success of gold in 2028.

Faced by the BBC’s decision not to submit an offer for the right to broadcast Singapore 2025, Aquatics GB deserves a very large credit to secure the rights itself and ensure direct coverage and magazine packages on their own website and through the Eurovision Platform. This is an initiative of the aquatic body that regulates without prioritizing globally, and provides comprehensive access to British fans. Tragedy is completely necessary.

A new way forward for BBC?

British public service broadcasters have been formed in aquatic championships that avoid, as they have re -scattered their commitments aggressively in all sports. As marked at Sport Inc. last week, BBC hasn’t even registered to show the Home Commonwealth Games next year in Glasgow, where swimming will certainly stand out once again.

The BBC argument to reduce sports broadcasts is outdated and rotates around the cost-to-eyeballs ratio, plus its ability to change the money spent on drama and documentary into income from syndicated agreements around the world that are beneficial to the choice of sports.

For the biggest sports event, subscription channels can increase broadcast rights offer to the level that expels the BBC. There is a list of ‘crown jewelry’ events, which are ultimately determined by politicians, which must be free to be accessed by the English public – from the final of the FA Cup and the Olympics to Grand National. This ensures that a list of high -profile sports events is available for Beeb, to do the best. Maybe, though, a lower profile competition that really requires politician protection.

Challenging politically

Britain has invested consistently in the expectations of the Olympic and Paralympic medal since 1996 through the national lottery and the treasurer of athletes and government agencies that manage their development. UK Sport also pursued ambitious strategies to secure the right to hold a large event on the land of England. Successful athletes and events only have social value, however, if they are very visible. Of course this is where public service announcers must enter.

Commercial media is increasingly pursuing the editorial approach that is driven by clicks. The result, it is understandable if frustration, are some sports that dominate the inch of virtual columns. We live in the world where many journalists report one match for the same platform and the work of ‘colors’ about dominant sports and clubs issued traditional reportage about secondary and tertiary sports. Football, of course, is the most dominant strength of all.

This ‘lower’ exercise (who reads almost all Olympics and Paralympics, but people like Netball too) find themselves trapped in a vicious circle where effective scope reduction guarantees less in the future. And if prospective athletes don’t see this sport today, what ensures that they see outside football in making their sports choices as young people?

The conceptual improvement is simple, but politically challenging. Requires the BBC to provide a schedule of events coverage in all sports that are considered important nationally and those who struggle for oxygen broadcasts. The iplayer platform will be a minimum requirement, by highlighting the main competition package in the main channel of Beeb.

Beeb debate

I am not so naive to believe this is a taller’s neutral obligation. However, programming can be financially smarter. As viewers, do we really need so many expensive celebrity experts and additional recording outside who are automatically supplied by the host announcer? Some ‘crown jewelry’ events can be submitted to other platforms, saving a lot. Plus, national lottery can be used to contribute to costs, turning the current vicious circle into one of the athletes-Events-viewers-ATLET.

If the BBC is not open to the debate, then maybe the list of ‘crown jewelry’ must be abolished and, in parallel, politicians open dialogue with Sky and TNT about the provision of broader sports coverage as Quid Pro Quo for them to secure an icon event that was previously not available. They must want to dive – the water is beautiful.

Ceremony lump

For many people, the opening ceremony is the Olympics. The exchange of athletic-aathetic calendars for LA28 is a function of the requirements for the performance of the ceremony in a place which will then be converted to host swimming. The world’s athletics are hugging the party line, but will surely be nervous about losing the status of traditional closing weeks for future matches.
