Every year UEFA gives a picture of the trend played throughout the top soccer league on the continent in the talent report and the annual European club competition landscape.
On 85 pages, this is not a quick reading but this is a useful window about how the game develops, from the presence and workload of players to the dismissal of managers and competitive balance.
Here, AM City Has a hard yard so you don’t need and issue five of the most interesting trends from this year’s report, relating to the 2024-25 season.
More players are used
European top 20 domestic leagues use a record number of players last season, with a replacement of one percent to average 4.4 per match.
In the Premier League, the figure is up six percent year to year, because the club uses greater members of their suburbs to reduce the workload of star players.
Throughout Europe there is a clear trend: because of the introduction of rules that allow five subsidies per game in 2019-20, the number of players used has increased eight percent.
The manager is fewer fired
The life of a head coach is lived by the 70s Rockers Trooper Canada Mantra, who sings here for a good time (not a long time).
But the good news for those who were in the hottest hotseat were that managerial changes fell last season, to 0.98 per club – the first time the number dropped below 1.0 in five years.
Those who are looking for job security may be to avoid Super Lig Türkiye, who sees 30 changes compared to European top averages of 13 and only 11 in the Premier League.
The average term of office is also higher in the UK than all 1.2 years, while 62 percent of all head coaches last less than 12 months.
Hustle
The presence gave a reason for cheering (word -words), with a crowd up three percent in the top European league.
Thirty leagues see that the presence of aggregate increases, while 17 recorded their highest number in a decade or more.
Manchester United and Real Madrid both saw the top of the 2M aggregate in all competitions, about the equivalent of the total crowd for all second-level games France was put together.
Competitive balance
For the first time in more than a decade, the champion in power failed to defend their titles in more than 30 of Europe’s top divisions for the second season in a row.
In another positive sign, the number of wins one side won by three or more goals to 16.7 percent, the lowest average ever in all leagues.
Women’s club games, however, are more predictable, with 34 out of 52 leagues won by champions in power and 15 see five consecutive titles or more.
Loan
The increase in loan transfer has become a phenomenon that has developed in recent years, because big clubs have hoarded players and struggled to dismantle them with permanent offers.
The number of loan offers dropped 10 percent across Europe last season, although still high in some of the largest leagues.
The premier league club on average lent 16 players, even though it was far from the Italian Serie A, where the team lent 24 players – basically the entire troops – on average.
