The Football Association Ranged by Irish Debt has been accused of showing his staff “insult” after announcing it will make a mandatory redundancy.
Fai, who has around 230 employees, said the work must be part of a “significant transformation program to modernize how football is developed and delivered in Ireland”.
It is said that his party plans to launch a voluntary redundancy program in the coming days, after that “then will assess the progress of the long -term vision and move forward with the re -placement phase before confirming the required mandatory redundancy”.
Earlier this week the Minister of Sports Ireland was urged to intervene to avoid work slaughtering. FAI has a debt of around £ 35 million, although there is a bailout from the government in 2019.
FAI fee cutting steps came after taking guidance from an external consultant but had triggered anger from one of the leading Irish trade unions.
“FAI has shown insults to his staff by conducting outsourcing critical decisions about their future to facial consultants while failing to be involved in the right consultation process,” said the organizer of the Siptu Service Division Adrian Kane.
“This is an insult for workers who have given everything to organizations and football in Ireland. FAI has the task of being transparent and responsible to its employees, but that keeps them in the dark while threatening mass redundancy.”
Fai was urged to be frank because of losing a job
FAI has shed around 20 employees this year, leaving a number of senior positions – including the Director of Law and Finance, and Chief Football Officer – Empty.
The Republic of Ireland’s men’s team has not met the requirements for large tournaments since 2016, although the women reached the World Cup for the first time in 2023.
Siptu added that it urged the Head of FAI David Courell to be frank of the number of risky jobs and the criteria that would be used to make redundancy decisions.
“Our members are disgusted by the statement released by FAI today where he refers to the ‘set of skills’ needed in the workforce,” said the organizer of the Robert Purfield sector.
“The question is: What is the set of skills needed by a CEO who, in recent months, has lost many of his senior management teams and now employing external consultants that are not mentioned to develop plans that he has not revealed to workers?”
