The campaign against the proposed expansion from the Wimbledon championship site argues that it is illegal in the High Court on Tuesday before the main decision regarding the future of SW19.

The campaign against the proposed expansion from the Wimbledon championship site argues that it is illegal in the High Court on Tuesday before the main decision regarding the future of SW19.

The Save Wimbledon Park campaign group took legal action against the decision by the Greater London Authority (GLA) to give the club permission of all British clubs to develop 39 courts, including 8,000 seats, on land adjacent to the site that is currently hosting the championship.

Lawyers to challengers said on Tuesday that the decision “violated the law”, added that the Wimbledon Park Class II site had the limits imposed on how it could be used.

The decision whether the judge, the Saini judge, canceled the motion estimated in writing within a few weeks.

Some local residents to the site have contacted AM City To express their support for the plan, despite discomfort in the short term.

Sasha White KC, for campaigners, said: “You cannot have a plot of land that is more protected in the planning system, frankly.

“Continue burden [the All England Club] To justify the proposal … very strong. “

The permit was granted by the Deputy Mayor for the planning of Jules Pipe after the Wandsworth and Merton Council was divided into the decision. Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan resigned from making a call on plans for previous support that could make him open to bias claims

White added that the land was subject to “legal trust that requires it to be stored for the use of public recreation”. All England Club insists that there will be a park available that previously could not be accessed by the public that did not have membership for golf courses.

The All England Club, which runs Wimbledon, gained Freehold for a golf course in 1993 and added infrastructure in 2021.

Mark Westmoreland Smith KC, for GLA, writes that the decision is “Planning of Assessment which is carried out correctly and pays attention to the right and relevant factors”.

Russell Harris KC, for the All England Club, writes that GLA is able to give permission in 2024 “Even if the construction is not in accordance with different restrictions and does not plan land use”.

The high court hearing continued today.
