EE became the first British main network to announce under the 18S smartphone package. ‘Sims Sims’, available on any smartphone device, designed with congenital network content control when accessing websites, protection of fraud calls, closing expenditure and remaining data connected. EE is also the first on the highway to offer an appointment in a shop with an expert guide who is trained to provide online safety support and practical guidance, as well as suggestions about parental level control arrangements. To support parents throughout Britain, EE has created ‘telephone chat’ resources for parents and guardians to help them discuss ownership of smart phones. This initiative is part of an ongoing EE commitment to the family as the best British network, and coincides with the insight of the internet matters, the Ambassador of Konnie Huq’s parents, the newly formed EE Youth Council, and thousands of families throughout England. EE has been launched ‘SAFER SIMS’, a trio of cellular plans under 18 years that combines network level content filters, throttled speed, fraud protection, and ‘telephone’ chat guide.

This step has been supported by the Safety Clinic in a shop in 400+ British branches and thrown directly to parents who are overwhelmed by digital exposure to children.

In his debut briefing as CEO of BT’s Consumer Arm, Claire Gillies announced on Tuesday: “At EE, we aim to play a meaningful role in the lives of our customers … there is nothing more valuable to us than our family.”

He framed Sims Sims as the latest step in the journey of EE-digital welfare originating from the ‘Phonesmart’ platform, the lobby of the online safety law, and guidance under 16-placed brands strategically as active players in digital parenting.

But whether this step is an original leap in youth technology that is safe or only intelligent branding must still be proven by the accuracy of execution, the ability to adapt adolescents, and the adoption of the real world.

EE monetizes the fear of parents

Parents are under pressure. Pulse Internet Matters survey ‘May 2025 reported that 77 percent of children aged nine to 17 had experienced at least one online danger, an increase of eight percent from the previous year.

Meanwhile, 75 percent of parents are worried that their children will spend too much time online.

The 2025 Wellbeing Ibdex from the same charity body added that 67 percent of children said online damage was increasing in their emotional impact; 41 percent have faced false information, 27 percent contacted by foreigners, and 22 percent see the content of violence.

IPSOS voting also found that 75 percent of parents expressed concern about what children saw online, and one in seven was not sure they knew their children’s exposure.

EE’s leadership is banking about that anxiety.

Gillies told participants: “Throughout the summer holidays … Many parents will navigate the most challenging smartphone topics with your children”.

A safer SIMS proposition places telecommunications in Nexus emotions and practicality, it seems to offer parents of a tissue level, instead of relying on the setting of the device little by little.

However, the telecommunications giant seems to sell the peace of mind in the form of telecommunications services, locking a subscription early, while in harmony with legislative hopes.

Regulations provide protection

Rollout Dovets EE with online safety laws, upheld from July 25, 2025, which mandates strict age verification and content moderation throughout the platform or fine of up to £ 18 million 10 percent of global income.

While telecommunications is not a platform regulation carrier, EE’s initial alignment with the ‘Child Code Protection’ ofcoming aims to position it as a partner for policy makers, with Gillies added that the heavy class of this industry “Encourages leadership in digital safety”.

Ironically, some critics, from British leader Nigel Farage to the campaign of civil freedom, have stamped the action “dystopian” and warned that it could foster more dangerous behavior through the VPN’s environment.

But skepticism remains. Gillies says Ee “Want every young young person in their digital world, including their smartphone”.

But many modern smartphones, including the innate tools of the Apple family, Google Family Link-Gratis to be activated, triggers concerns about whether EE sells the peace of parents or the basics of candidates for premium candidates.

Adolescents are proficient in VPN or WiFi can avoid the throttle and filter completely, damaging tissue level restrictions.

Download VPN soared when the online safety law began law enforcement, often beyond even chatgpt in the application ranking – reflection of public counterattacks and limitations of regulations.

When placing trained staff for 30 minutes the shop session is attractive to anxious households, it may also be difficult to reduce. For urban professionals to turn work and care, contact points may feel uncomfortable or unnecessary for many people.
