Lammy and Vance are hosting the National Security Advisor ahead of the Trump-Putin Summit

The Foreign Minister will host the Allied National Security Advisor Meeting on Saturday when Donald Trump encourages a peaceful agreement in Ukraine.

Downing Street announced that the meeting at the official country retreat of David Lammy, Chevening, would unite advisors from the US, Europe and Ukraine to “discuss progress towards securing just and eternal peace”.

It is understood that the meeting was regulated at the request of the US and will be held together by the American Vice President JD Vance, who lived in Kent at Chevening at the beginning of his vacation in the UK.

It happened after Trump announced that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15 to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.

The US President previously suggested that every peaceful agreement might involve “some regional exchange”, with a report that showed this could involve Ukraine to hand over the Donetsk region.

He previously threatened to impose a tighter rate on Russia if Putin did not agree with a ceasefire on Friday.

But Zelensky has rejected any proposal that will endanger the territorial integrity of Ukraine, saying Kyiv “will not give awards to Russia for what he has done” and that “Ukraine will not give their land to residents”.

The Ukraine constitution forbids the distribution of regions.

Zelensky also warned that every peace agreement that excluded Ukraine would lead to “dead solution”.

Ahead of the meeting at Chevening, Sir Keir Starmer discussed the conversation in a call with Zelensky on Saturday morning.

A Downing Street spokesman said: “The two leaders welcomed President Trump’s desire to end this savage war and agreed that we had to maintain pressure on Putin to end the illegal war.

“The Prime Minister ended the call by repeating his unwavering support for Ukraine and his people.”

Mr Lammy held formal talks with Vance at Chevening on Friday, where they were expected to discuss war in Ukraine.
